Kentucky: Council on Postsecondary Education
Board Training (HB 15)

On April 27, 2016, Governor Matthew Bevin signed into law HB 15, an act relating to the governance of postsecondary education institutions. The law, which went into effect on July 1, 2016, requires new institutional and CPE board members to complete an orientation and education program within their first year of appointment that focuses both on the state's higher education goals as well as institution-specific matters.

To facilitate this process, the delivery of the new member orientation shall be shared by the CPE, KCTCS and the respective university boards in two parts: (A) state-level orientation and (B) campus/KCTCS orientation.

CPE is sponsoring and coordinating the efforts for the state-level orientation and training. For those appointed or elected as a CPE, university, or college board member between July 1-November 15, 2016, an orientation and training session will be held on November 30, 2016.
