Data Reporting Guidelines

Official guidelines are prepared and updated jointly by the Council and institutional staff and establish the basis for the reporting of data. These data are used by the Council staff for research purposes including academic degree program review and approval, state appropriation recommendations, development, accountability, and other activities as prescribed in statutes.

    The Data Quality Policy adopted by the Council on November 5, 2007, promotes the development of policies and processes by Kentucky’s public postsecondary institutions to ensure data quality and implements a process for authenticating the accuracy of data submitted to the Council.
Data Access Policy

    The Council's data access policy establishes the principles related to the collection, maintenance, use, analysis, and dissemination of data and information gathered and maintained through the Council's comprehensive database system and by the Kentucky Virtual University, the Kentucky Virtual Library and the Kentucky Adult Education system.

Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS)
IPEDS consists of institution-level data that can be used to describe trends in postsecondary education at the institution, state and/or national levels. It is a single, comprehensive system that encompasses all identified institutions whose primary purpose is to provide postsecondary education.

College and University Personnel Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) Salary Surveys
CUPA-HR is the national authority on compensation surveys for higher education. The association publishes four annual salary surveys, plus benefits and benchmarking surveys.
