College Access Outreach Initiative

Funded by the 2006 Kentucky General Assembly, the 2006-08 college access outreach initiative seeks to provide streamlined and relevant college-going information to traditionally underserved Kentuckians.

In alignment with Kentucky's Double the Numbers plan, the college access outreach initiative targets four key audiences:

• Returning adults
• At-risk middle and high school students
• Potential transfer students
• Potential GED students and GED graduates

As part this initiative, CPE is the official state coordinator for the national KnowHow2GO (KH2G) College Access Campaign. The American Council on Education, Lumina Foundation for Education and the Ad Council launched the KnowHow2GO campaign nationwide in January 2007, which includes television, radio and outdoor public service advertisements, print materials and a Web site. CPE has developed a Kentucky version of this campaign known as KnowHow2GOKy (KH2GKy), which is the centerpiece for CPE's college access efforts and addresses all target audiences.
