Kentucky Principals' Academy Inquiries and Responses

Inquiries and Responses regarding the Kentucky Principals' Academy Request for Proposals will be posted here as they are received.  Inquiries will be accepted until 4:00pm, March 30, 2007.  Inquiries should be sent to John DeAtley.

INQUIRY:

Can you please clarify the requirement that no more than $100,000 may be used for administrative support; meaning, may indirect expenses be in addition to that $100,000 or must they be included within it?  What are allowable administrative support costs?

RESPONSE:

Of the $450,000 allotted for this project, only $100,000 may be used for administrative support.  It is that $100,000 that we are expecting to be matched with an additional $100,000 (cash or in-kind) from the proposing institution.  The Council does not pay indirect costs on projects supported by state funds.  Administrative support costs include any items that will support the work of the Academy (salary, administrative support, office space, office supplies, travel, etc.)

INQUIRY:

May the funds be used to pay salary savings and indirect costs?  If indirect costs are allowed, what is the percent?

RESPONSE:

The $100,000 that is allotted for administrative costs may be used, in part, for salary.  Please note that the Council does expect that the administrative funds will be matched.  The Council does not pay indirect costs on projects supported by state funds.

INQUIRY:

1. How many fellows, staff and guests are anticipated?

2. Does the anticipated number (in answer to #1) also apply to the two sessions each semester?

RESPONSE:

The Council is anticipating 25-50 fellows, but that number is dependent upon the proposing institution’s proposal for how they plan to use the funds available.  The number of staff and guests are also dependent on that proposal.  While the number of staff and guests would of course fluctuate in the semester sessions, it is anticipated that all fellows would participate in those sessions.
