American Diploma Project
The American Diploma Project makes the high school diploma more meaningful by securing an agreement to use high school accountability measures in admissions, placement, and hiring decisions.
Developmental Education
The Council is committed to working with colleges and universities to improve the outcomes of developmental education.
GEAR UP Kentucky
Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is a federally-funded program that encourages at-risk middle and high school students to stay in school, study hard, and take the right courses to go to college.
Go Higher Kentucky
The Go Higher Kentucky interactive Web site helps Kentuckians plan, apply, and pay for college.
Governor’s Minority Student College Preparation Program (GMSCPP)
The GMSCPP program increases awareness of minority students about the benefits of going to college and helps prepare them to be successful in college level work and graduate.
Kentucky Early Mathematics Testing Program (KEMTP)
The Kentucky Early Mathematics Testing Program provides online testing to help high school students determine their level of preparedness for college-level mathematics.
P-16 Councils
P-16 Councils are composed of education, business and community leaders that work together to increase the success of all students, from pre-school through college and beyond.
Project Lead the Way
Project Lead the Way in Kentucky is a collaboration of all the P-20 institutions, public and private, the Council and the Kentucky Department of Education are highly vested in human capital through funding this effort. Project Lead the Way is a national organization partnering with education, business, and industry to provide pre-engineering and biomedical programs for middle and high school students. Kentucky’s Project Lead the Way goal is to prepare an ever-increasing number of Kentucky students from diverse backgrounds to pursue engineering and engineering technology careers. A major goal of Project Lead the Way is professional education for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) teachers. The University of Kentucky serves as Kentucky’s
national Project Lead the Way
affiliate.
Quality and Accountability Policy Group
The Quality and Accountability Policy Group adresses policy changes necessary to create a more seamless educational system through effective partnerships between various sectors.
Regional Stewardship Program
The Regional Stewardship Program expands the regional impact of the state’s six comprehensive universities through service and public engagement initiatives.
Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) Programs
The SREB coordinates several programs to increase the availability of academic programs to Kentucky students, including the Academic Common Market, Optometry and Veterinary Medicine Contract Spaces, and the SREB Doctoral Scholars program.
Teacher Quality
The Council is committed to programs and partnerships that improve the quality of Kentucky’s teachers, from preparation to professional development.
Transfer
The Council works with colleges and universities to develop tools to help students easily transfer coursework to a bachelor's degree program.
