College Readiness and Developmental Education Overview
Senate Bill 1, signed by Governor Beshear on March 26, 2009, is a significant piece of education legislation that revises the assessment and accountability system for P‐12 education in Kentucky. It requires a revision of standards to be based on national and international benchmarks in order to increase the rigor and focus the content of P‐12 education, increasing the number of students that are college ready.

- 2010-12 Biennial Budget
As part of Senate Bill 1 (2009) (SB1) implementation, the Council on Postsecondary Education (the Council) received a state appropriation to develop and implement activities to improve postsecondary readiness, placement, and student success at the P-12, adult education, and postsecondary levels. The goal is to continue the development and implementation of promising student success initiatives/interventions.
