Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education

Task Force on AI, Higher Education, and the Workforce

Charge

The CPE Task Force on AI, Higher Education, and the Workforce will examine how advances in artificial intelligence are reshaping learning, credentialing, and employment across the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

The task force will:

  1. Establish a baseline understanding of AI’s impact on Kentucky’s workforce and teaching and learning.  It will develop a concise overview of how artificial intelligence is currently being used in the workforce and in postsecondary teaching and learning—both nationally and within Kentucky—including key trends, opportunities, and risks.
  2. Identify priority impact areas. It will review how AI is influencing postsecondary education and the workforce in Kentucky and recommend a focused set of high-priority areas where action by CPE and its partner institutions will have the greatest impact.
  3. Define strategic goals within each priority area.  For each recommended priority area (e.g., teaching and learning, workforce alignment, credentials, etc.), it will articulate clear goals that describe what CPE should aim to achieve over the next three to five years. This analysis will consider how CPE can best utilize its resources, particularly our power to convene, to bring forth the highest return on investment in the areas of most critical need.

Once priority impact areas and strategic goals are defined and the task force’s report will submit a report to the CPE Board. CPE staff will create an action plan for each goal in each priority area.  The action plan will  sequence and phase work over time, including but not limited to what should be done first, what can be piloted, and where collaboration will be essential.
