Intern for Healthcare Workforce Initiatives
Location: Frankfort, KY (Hybrid work schedule with one to two in-office days per week, typically
on Tuesday and/or Wednesday)
Compensation: $20 per hour
Time Commitment: 15 – 20 Hours per week
Term: Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 Semesters
Travel: Occasional in-state travel for presentations and site visits.

About the Internship
This internship offers students a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of higher education, healthcare, and workforce development. Interns will directly support key initiatives within CPE’s Workforce and Economic Development unit, particularly those focused on addressing healthcare workforce shortages through education and training system improvements. Interns will gain exposure to policy implementation, cross-sector collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and real-world data collection and reporting.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Program Manager for Healthcare Workforce Initiatives, the intern will:
- Assist in organizing and supporting meetings for groups such as the Healthcare Workforce Collaborative (HWC) and Healthcare Workforce Investment Fund (HWIF) Steering Committee, including scheduling, agenda preparation, note-taking, and follow-up documentation.
- Support the collection, organization, and analysis of data related to healthcare workforce needs, training programs, and institutional metrics (e.g., enrollment, graduation, licensure pass rates).
- Assist in research and documentation efforts related to the refinement and improvement of HWIF program processes, including application criteria, reporting mechanisms, and stakeholder feedback.
- Contribute to the development of materials for internal and external reports, legislative updates, and program evaluations.
- Maintain organized records, including correspondence, reports, meeting summaries, and program documentation using Microsoft Teams and Office applications.
- Assist in monitoring and updating healthcare workforce-related content on the CPE website in collaboration with the communications team.
- Draft outreach and promotional materials, manage stakeholder distribution lists, and support strategic communications aligned with CPE branding.
- Help coordinate logistics and materials for healthcare workforce convenings and special events.
Qualifications
Required
Current enrollment in a graduate degree program in a relevant field such as public policy, education, public health, healthcare administration, communications, or business.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
- Demonstrated interest in public service, higher education, or workforce development.
Preferred
- Prior experience in a professional office or project-based setting (e.g., campus leadership, administrative support, volunteer engagement, event planning).
- Exposure to or interest in data analysis and reporting.
- Familiarity with website content management, social media, or other communications tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
