Collegiate Recovery Resource Centers (CRRCs)
Overview
The Collegiate Recovery Resource Center (CRRC) Grant Program is a statewide initiative led by the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE) and supported by funding from the Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission. Launched on July 1, 2025, the program provides one-year implementation grants to selected public colleges and universities across the Commonwealth to establish campus-based recovery centers.
Purpose
CRRCs are designed to support adult learners in recovery from substance use disorder (SUD) and those managing co-occurring mental health challenges. Each center will offer trauma-informed peer recovery services, academic support, and workforce readiness programming in collaboration with community recovery and behavioral health providers.
Goals
- Reduce relapse and dropout risk for students in recovery.
- Support academic persistence and workforce entry.
- Build sustainable recovery ecosystems across campus communities
Our CRRC Universities and Colleges
The five CRRC-funded institutions include:
- University of Kentucky
- Morehead State University
- Campbellsville University
- Bellarmine University
- Western Kentucky University
Together, these institutions serve over 71,000 Kentucky students annually, representing a significant opportunity to expand access to recovery support services within higher education settings.
