CPE board member appointed to the Kentucky Antisemitism Task Force
December 22, 2023
A Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE) board member was among the initial appointees of the newly created Kentucky Antisemitism Task Force.
Dr. Muhammad Babar, Council member and an attending physician at St. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital and the medical director at six other healthcare and rehab centers, is one of 18 members of the task force appointed by Gov. Andy Beshear. Babar has served on the Council since Sept. 2020.
“Dr. Babar will serve the task force well, as he does the students of the commonwealth through his work on our Council,” Dr. Aaron Thompson, president of CPE, said.
The duties and responsibilities of the task force include:
- Conducting a comprehensive review of the state of antisemitism within Kentucky.
- Engaging with community members and providing recommendations to public officials, and support combating antisemitism and hate in all forms.
- Supporting local cross-community and interfaith solidarity-building projects.
The task force will provide an annual report to the governor each year to outline its findings and recommendations. The task force will convene quarterly, beginning in Jan. 2024.
