Eastern Kentucky University is proud to offer reduced tuition of $250 per credit hour for undergraduate courses and $325 for all graduate courses.

Note:  Graduate nursing students and doctoral students are not eligible for the EKU Military Reduced Tuition of $250/$325 per credit hour, regardless of active duty status.

Service members Opportunity College

EKU is a member of the Service members Opportunity College (SOC) consortium, a group of colleges and universities dedicated to providing educational opportunities to service members who have difficulty completing college degrees due to frequent moves.

Professional Flight Training

You can use your Post 9-11 GI Bill benefits to pay for flight training as well. Students in EKU’s Aviation (BS) professional flight option can earn flight certifications in Private Pilot, Instrument, Commercial, Flight Instructor, CFII, and Multi-Engine.  Best of all, as a public institution, your Post 9-11 GI Bill® benefits will cover all of your flight fees (or at whichever percentage rate you are eligible for if less than 36 months of active duty service).

In-State Tuition

GOOD NEWS about tuition! Regardless of where you are from, if you are stationed in Kentucky and a member of the Armed Forces serving on active duty for a period of more than 30 days, you will receive in-state tuition This also applies to your spouse and dependent children. as long as you remain continuously enrolled, even if you move out of state.

Transferability

FAMILIES TOO!  You can transfer your Post 9-11 GI Bill® benefits to your spouse or children. If you are actively serving and are a career service member, you can transfer all of your benefits to one person or divide them among your family members, whichever works best for you!

Applying to EKU

Before you arrive you'll need to complete your application and identify your service connection on your undergraduate application. This allows EKU to waive the processing fee for undergraduate students

EKU VETS Support

Once you’ve completed the admissions process, we can connect you with a member of EKU Veterans Education and Transition Support (EKU VETS).  EKU VETS is your veteran student organization dedicated to helping you make a successful transition from the armed forces to the college classroom. The EKU VETS student organization manages VET-2-VET mentoring, and will help you find a peer mentor.

Getting Credit for Learning and Experience

EKU can help you explore academic credit for military service. Each branch of service produces a transcript, listing academic equivalency for military training and experience based on guidelines established by the American Council on Education (ACE).

Once a copy of your military transcripts has been received by EKU, the Office of Military & Veteran Affairs can help determine which military credits might apply towards your degree plan. EKU is committed to fairly evaluating your military service and awarding students with as much credit as possible toward your educational interests.
