Since 1973, WKU has had a regional campus dedicated to those stationed at Fort Knox and for over 70 years WKU has had an Army ROTC battalion which has transformed hundreds of students into Army leaders.
WKU awards college credit for military training/experience based on the American Council on Education (ACE) Guide Recommendation.
Reduced Tuition
WKU offers a special military tuition rate to all currently serving military students (Active Duty, Reserves and National Guard) at $250 per credit hour for undergraduate and graduate courses.
Veterans Upward Bound
WKU hosts the only Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) in the state of KY. This federal TRIO program assists U.S. military veterans enter into and succeed in postsecondary school. VUB is a non-profit program serving veterans from an eight county area surrounding Bowling Green, and costs nothing for those who participate. All services, books, and instruction are completely FREE OF CHARGE for those who qualify.
Textbooks for Troops
Textbooks For Troops™ (T4T) is the LARGEST program of its kind in the NATION. T4T is a free textbook lending program for eligible WKU military students. Books are loaned for the entire semester but MUST be returned for another student to use the following semester. WKU’s T4T has assisted more than 2,600 students with their books needs since its inception in August 2011.
In-state Tuition
Qualifying veterans and dependents receive the in-state tuition rate.
Priority Registration
Priority registration is granted for Active Duty and veterans using the GI Bill.
Recognition Cords
Red, White, and Blue recognition cords are presented to veterans graduating from WKU.
Veterans Resource Center (VRC)
WKU offers a dedicated space for military, veterans, and dependents. The center includes a student lounge, private study areas, computers, lockers, and so much more.
ROTC Programs
WKU hosts the Hilltopper Battalion of the Army ROTC, and is a cross-town school partnered with Detachment 790 of the Air Force ROTC at Tennessee State University.
Mentorship
A Vet-2-Vet peer mentorship program is available to all military affiliated students.
Student Veteran Alliance (SVA)
The SVA is a veteran-run student organization focused on helping each other succeed in higher education.
SALUTE Veterans National Honor Society (WKU Chapter)
SALUTE is the only national honor society recognizing and honoring the service and scholastic achievements of student veterans.
Transferring Your Military Credit
WKU awards college credit based on the American Council on Education (ACE) Guide Recommendation. Active duty members and military veterans must submit official military transcripts and/or Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) transcripts prior to admission.
