2025-26 Changes
File Layout Updates
- Revised the file layout section for each collection. Each layout now includes Fixed Start, Length, Header Name, CPE Database Header, Type and Formatting, and Definition.
Collection Schedule
- Updated to reflect adjustments for state holidays and weekends that impact submission deadlines.
New Sections Added
- General Information – Includes updated instructions for formatting data files and an overview of KPEDS.
- Metric Validation – Now included for Enrollment, Type A, and Type 5 collections. This section explains how KPEDS calculates specific metrics that require institutional approval.
- Reporting Errors & Warnings – Lists potential errors and warnings with descriptions and recommended next steps for resolution.
- Additional Terms and Definitions – New definitions added for Examinations (Entrance, Placement, Other) and Financial Aid and Support terminology.
Removed Collection
- Type FPE: Frontline Healthcare Preliminary Enrollment has been removed.
Type A: Student Financial Aid Submission Changes
- Fields Removed to align with changes in the FAFSA Simplification Act:
- Expected Family Contribution (EFC) – Replaced with the Student Aid Index (SAI).
- Total Income, Student AGI, and Parent AGI – Removed to comply with updated FAFSA specifications.
- Father’s and Mother’s Education Level – Eliminated and replaced by the new question: “Did either parent attend college?” See new field: parents_ed_lvl.
- Child Support and Other Dependents questions (Former FAFSA Questions #47 and #48) – Replaced by new question: “Child or Other Dependents?” See new field: Dependents.
- Fields Added:
- Either Parent Attend College (parents_ed_lvl)
- FAFSA Does the Student have Dependents (Dependents)
2024-2025 Changes
- Adding Frontline Healthcare Preliminary Enrollment collection
- Removing Estimated Degrees collection
- Moving Licensure & Certification Exams collection to KPEDS
- Type A Changes
- Increase maximum Pell Grant amount
- 2023-24 Amount: $7,395
- Correct maximum Cap Grant amount
- $5,300 for 4Y and $2,500 for 2Y
- Increase maximum Pell Grant amount
2023-2024 Changes
- The columns for Section Number were increased from five to seven for Types 2, 3, G and U. The columns from previous collections were made to be blank and Section Number was moved to the end of the collection.
- The Enrollment collections had their due extended two
- Since this collection was extended, it is important that collections be submitted by the due date. Extensions will be limited for these collections.
- The Innovative Scholarship was added to Type
- The Student Financial Aid Index was added to Type
- Type U asked for the room number twice so the duplicate was made to be
- Full-time dual credit was added to Preliminary
- Type T was removed and transfer-related fields were added to Type 1 starting with the Fall 2023 Enrollment Collection. Summer 2023 will follow the previous year's guidelines.
- Race and ethnicity categories will be updated to reflect the change to the "nonresident" category once IPEDS releases guidance for 2023-24.
