General Instructions

The Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE) collects preliminary enrollment data early in the academic term to support timely analysis and planning. Unlike detailed final enrollment submissions, the preliminary file includes aggregated enrollment subgroup (e.g., full-time undergraduate, part-time graduate) rather than individual-level student records.

Institutions should report aggregate headcounts based on the categories outlined in the file layout (e.g., credential-seeking status, URM,  first-time or adult learners). Some categories may not apply to all enrollment levels and can be marked as N/A where appropriate.

A student is considered first-time if they meet all of the following:

Adult undergraduate

When reporting adult for the full/part-time undergraduate enrollment, Include undergraduate students who are 25 to 64 years of age.

Dual Credit

Dual credit refers to college-level coursework taken by high school students to earn both high school and college credit, in accordance with KRS 164.002(4). Students must be admitted by a Kentucky public postsecondary institution, which maintains responsibility for academic integrity in dual credit courses.
